Bianchi: “Serie A? Better Premier League with Leeds”

Exclusive interview with the new Leeds midfielder coming from Italy.

Born in Tuscany at Piombino, right in front of the Elba island, Tommaso Bianchi is 25 years old.
I’ve interviewed him, hoping to have asked the things that Leeds fans would like to ask him.

How are your first days at Leeds going?
“Fine. I’ve inserted myself immediately well in the new team. Only the lifestyle is a bit different compared with Italy, but it’s all right”.

How was born the idea of coming to play in England?
“Immediately after last season ended, my agent advanced me this option because Cellino had taken Leeds and told me they wanted me. I wanted to try this experience, in a different football with wonderful stadiums, great organisation. It will be an experience that will enrich me as a player and as a man”.

How would you rate the English Championship compared with Italian Serie B?
“It’s too soon to answer this question, because I haven’t already played a Championship match. Judging from trainings, friendly matches and Cup, I can say that here there is less tactical organization than in Italy. But here there is more running, more physical approach and I can say that players are a little better than the ones who play in Serie B”.

What do ou think about the coach, mister Hockaday? As you know, lots of Leeds fans were astonished by this Cellino’s choice.
“I know it. It’s not the first time that Cellino makes a choice like this: for example he took Allegri for Cagliari when he came from Serie C and we know which kind of career he made. We must have confidence in him because he is a nice person, above all he consider and treats every player in the same way, at the same level, and it’s not easy to find a trainer who behaves in this way in Italy. He likes to play with the ball on the ground, he likes the technical aspects of the game and our trainings are full of these elements. And I like all of this”.

What’s the team target in this season? And yours?
“This is a long championship, very hard. I have learned to think just match after match, without giving to our team a purpose, especially at the beginning. We want to become a top team for this league in one or two seasons to win the Championship. I want to improve myself: after 200 matches in Serie B I felt I needed something different to enhance my football. And Leeds is the right place to do it, to have more intensity in my way of playing”.

It’s really strange that in Serie A none thought to a midfielder like you.
“Maybe I haven’t had the right chance. I went very very close to become a Serie A player two times, with Chievo and Sassuolo, but injuries stopped me. That’s my only sorrow: not having showed that I am a midfielder that deserves to play in Serie A. No matter, I will get the chance to play in Premier League with Leeds, that is a championship even more important!”

Intervista esclusiva all’allenatore della Stella Rossa di Belgrado, fresco vincitore del campionato in Serbia.

Che emozione prova ad aver trionfato?
Un’emozione fortissima, sono molto felice perché ho vinto il campionato per una squadra che ha una tifoseria incredibile. E’ stato uno dei momenti più difficili della storia della società, dopo un’annata piena di problemi vincere ha reso il trionfo ancora più grande. Sicuramente è il momento più bello della mia carriera.
Qual è stata la chiave del suo successo?
La dedizione al lavoro, prima di tutto. La società ha passato un momento difficile, con enormi problemi, debiti, il Partizan che ha vinto sei titoli di fila: ho dovuto mettere tutta la mia energia e concentrazione per compattare il gruppo e unire le forze di tifo, squadra e società verso l’unica idea di vincere.
Durante la stagione ha mai temuto di perdere?
Dal primo giorno abbiamo avuto dei problemi, perdendo anche qualche partita. Pensi sempre che potrebbe non andar bene, ma dopo aver vinto 15 partite consecutive la consapevolezza di potercela fare è cresciuta a dismisura. Io ho sempre pensato all’oggi, alla partita successiva, senza sbilanciarmi sul futuro. Vivere alla giornata, costruire mattone su mattone questa squadra ci ha portato dove siamo arrivati.
Che momento è questo per il calcio serbo?
E’ simile a quello che stanno vivendo in tutti i Paesi non fortissimi economicamente. L’unica differenza è che in Serbia ci sono tantissimi talenti al punto che ogni anno ne escono fuori almeno dieci che possono giocare ad alti livelli in Europa. Tutte le squadre pensano a venderli perché è l’unico modo per sopravvivere: questo modo di vivere non consente alle società di programmare a lungo termine. Gli arbitraggi in campionato sono corretti, ci sono buone prospettive perché noi serbi siamo bravi in tutti gli sport di squadra.
Che tipo di allenatore è lei?
Mi dedico molto al lavoro quotidiano sul campo, al rapporto con il singolo calciatore per creare un clima in cui ognuno si senta di dare il 100% per la squadra. Tatticamente amo il gioco offensivo, con molta attenzione alla preparazione fisica per correre ogni partita per novanta minuti; un calcio aggressivo, con veloce trasformazione dell’azione da difensiva a offensiva e viceversa. Studio molto i calci piazzati, ma anche le rimesse in gioco da fallo laterale: almeno 25 gol all’anno delle mie squadre, in media, vengono da azioni da fermo. L’attenzione che metto nel preparare questo tipo di giocate è simile a quella di un allenatore di basket: ho collaborato anche con Frank Rijkaard al Barcellona per aiutarlo nelle giocate di questo tipo. Infine un aspetto a cui presto molta attenzione è la disciplina.
Ci sono giocatori della sua Stella Rossa che possono giocare in Italia?
Ci sono molti ragazzi che potrebbero tentare un’avventura in un campionato importante come la Serie A; alcuni di loro hanno già giocato all’estero. Mi vengono in mente il capocannoniere Mrdja, lo sloveno Pečnik eletto giocatore dell’anno dai tifosi, Kovacevic, il capitano Milijas; ma ci sono anche molti giovani di talento dei quali presto sentiremo parlare.
Cosa può dirmi sul suo futuro?
E’ da vedere, attendo di parlare con i dirigenti della squadra. Dipende molto da quali saranno le ambizioni della squadra e le possibilità, legate anche al discorso dell’esclusione dalle Coppe Europee. Si vedrà nei prossimi giorni.
Ci sono squadre che l’hanno contattata in Italia tramite il suo agente, Dragovic?
Ho allenato il Domzale, ho fatto esordire Handanovic. In Italia mi conoscono bene i direttori sportivi e molti calciatori: questa vittoria, comunque, contribuirà ancora di più a far parlare di me. Ci sono alcuni discorsi aperti, ma non mi sembra corretto fare nomi di squadre in questo momento. Io sto prendendo lezioni di italiano e mi sento pronto ad arrivare in Italia, sarebbe il coronamento della mia carriera.

Aleksandar Mitrovic: “Belgium can win the World Cup”

An exclusive interview with Aleksandar Mitrovic, Serbian striker born in 1994, champion of Belgium with Anderlecht. He scored 16 goals in 30 matches, showing how big is his talent. Take a note about him, he will become soon a top player.

You were born in 1994 and already scored 16 goals in 30 matches. Where do you want to arrive?
“I want to score 20 goals next season. More than 20 if it is possible”.

You are a great talent. Do you think you will remain at Anderlecht?
“I have a contract for 5 years at Anderlecht”.

What does this victory in Belgium represent for you?
“It’s terrific! The fans were just fantastic! That was unbelieveble!”

Can you describe yourself as player? Which are your best features?
“I love to score. I think that sometimes I have a too hot blood. That’s my big problem but I’m working for stopping it. My favourite player is Mario Balotelli: he’s the same as me. He can do the best and the worst at the same time”.

Which aspects do you think you can improve?
“I want to score more goals with my head”.

Why is Serbia so full of talented players?
“The headcoachs are very very very talentued, and they have so much experience”.

World Cup: what do you think can do Belgium that you know so well?
“I think they can win the World Cup, why not? The Red Devils have so much talent in their team! For example, I like Divock Origi. But I love the class of Vincent Kompany”.

Would you like to play in Italy?
“Why not? But not this years. When I’ll be 21 or 22 I will think about it”.

Is it true that you have contacts with Juventus?
“No, it’s not true”.

Kasami exclusive: “My future at Fulham? Call Mino Raiola”

My exclusive interview to Pajtim Kasami, born 1992 in Macedonia, but player of Switzerland national team, midfielder of Fulham. Seventeen match played with the team of Craven Cottage and three goals scored.
How do you rate your experience at Fulham?
“Positive on one side, negative on the other one. Too many changes, three coaches, new president: a very heavy situation, for me and for my teammates”.
None expected the relegation at the starting of season. Which were the reasons, in your opinion?
“As I told before, too many changes. I would have preferred to stay with one coach”.
You had a good squad on paper, especially concerning attack: what did lack?
“Yes, on paper we were a strong team, but you have to demonstrate it in every match and on the training field. Furthermore on January a lot of important players went away”.
Had Magath any fault? Or any merit?
“Please, move on. I don’t answer to this one”.
For you, personally, how was this season?
“Up and down: I had tree coaches; with Martin Jol until January for me it went very good. After that, with the turnover of managers, I lost a bit the rhythm. But, if I had to make a balance sheet, I have played a lot this year, and for a young player as me is a very important thing to have continuity; but changes are always difficult”.
Is it true that in January you have been very close to Hellas Verona, in Italian Serie A?
“No, it isn’t”.
Palermo has been promoted in Serie A: what’s your impression?
“I feel a very big affection for that team. I’m happy for Palermo’s supporters: I did my debut in Serie A when I was eighteen wearing that shirt, and the team will always remain in my heart. I’m very happy for Zamparini, their president, too”.
What about your future? Will you remain at Fulham?
“Call Mino Raiola, my agent, for it. I’m only twenty-one, my future is open”.
Do you expect to go to the World Cup in Brazil with Switzerland?
“I’m on the list of thirty players: let’s see what will happen from now until the 3rd of June. For me it would be a dream to play in a World Cup, as for every football player”.
Last question: are you sorry you lost the “Goal of the season” prize?
“I regret more that Fulham has been relegated”.

“Borja Valero alla Roma? Invenzioni”

Botta e risposta con Alejandro Calandro, agente di Borja Valero,  in merito alle voci di oggi che vorrebbero lo spagnolo in trattativa con la Roma.

Oggi alcuni giornali scrivono che lei ha parlato di Borja Valero con la Roma: è vero?
“No, lo smentisco”.

Il suo assistito rimarrà alla Fiorentina?
“Borja sta molto bene a Firenze e io non ho incontrato nessun dirigente di altre squadre. La Fiorentina è un grande club. Ribadisco: queste voci sono pure invenzioni”.

Samir Ujkani: “Kosovo, una scelta di cuore”

L’appuntamento con la storia è fissato per le ore 15:00 di oggi a Mitrovica: il Kosovo sfida Haiti nella prima amichevole ufficialmente riconosciuta dalla Fifa.
In campo il portiere del Palermo, Samir Ujkani.

Che significato ha questa partita?
“E’ un momento davvero emozionante. I diciottomila biglietti disponibili sono stati venduti in sole 2 ore, a fronte di quasi centomila richieste! Il popolo kosovaro vive per il calcio. Pur non avendo strutture adeguate, la Federazione in sessanta giorni è riuscita a rifare da capo lo stadio di Mitrovica, dalle tribune agli spogliatoi.
Da quando, a dicembre, abbiamo saputo che avremmo potuto finalmente giocare partite approvate dalla Fifa, hanno iniziato a sistemare l’impianto: è venuto bene, è davvero bello. Oltretutto oggi sarà pieno, un vero spettacolo”.

E per lei personalmente?
“Ho fatto una scelta di cuore. Mi sono sentito di farla e così ho accettato la convocazione: di questo ringrazio il Palermo e la Federazione”.

Qual è il vostro obiettivo?
“In nazionale sono molto organizzati, hanno molta voglia e l’obiettivo è essere accettati ufficialmente per poter disputare le qualificazioni europee e mondiali. Dico la verità, la voglia che ho visto qui non l’ho trovata da nessuna parte. Io gioco a Palermo, una piazza davvero calda; ma qui la passione dei tifosi, l’attaccamento, è dieci volte superiore. E’ incredibile:in Kosovo le persone non hanno niente, ma per il calcio sono pronti a tutto”.

I grandi nomi, Behrami, Dzemaili e gli altri, si uniranno a voi?
“E’ presto per dirlo. Sono scelte personali, comunque. Per il momento devono pensare ai Mondiali da disputare con la Svizzera, poi si vedrà. Per ora l’importante è che la Federazione e la squadra crescano: ogni volta è un passo avanti per noi”.

Parola di presidente

C’è un motivo per cui ho dedicato una parte importante del mio libro “Dallunoallundici – Storie di ordinaria calciofilia” a quello che avvenne in un piccolo paese dell’Abruzzo a metà degli anni novanta: l’epopea del Castel di Sangro rappresenta, per me, la quintessenza dello spirito del calcio, del mio modo di vedere questo sport.

Ho intitolato il racconto “Epica Sangrina” perché, come leggerete, in quella vicenda si riscontrano tutti i canoni dell’epica classica, tutti i topoi che possiamo trovare in Omero o in Virgilio.
La squadra di un paese di seimila anime arriva in Serie B dopo una clamorosa vittoria ai calci di rigore contro l’Ascoli, con la vicenda dell’avvicendamento del portiere solo per affrontare i tiri dagli undici metri, si trova a combattere contro Genoa, Lecce e altri squadroni e si salva. Nonostante i numi avversi, nonostante la perdita di due ragazzi della squadra in incidente stradale e l’arresto di un altro per un’ingiusta accusa.

Gabriele Gravina, lo storico presidente di quella squadra, ha creduto a quel sogno, all’approdo tra le grandi del calcio, da subito. Come racconto nel libro, quando il capitano Davide Cei va a contrattare con lui il premio salvezza in C1 lui ribatte: “Non esiste proprio! Per me potete vincere il campionato”.
E oggi il presidente Gravina in persona, dopo aver letto il libro e la storia della sua squadra mi ha inviato questo tweet:

Karisik Ognjen: “Mijat Gaćinović will be a star”

An interesting conversation with a big expert of football in Serbia and Montenegro, Karisik Ognjen, to talk about the situation of football in that area and to discover new talents.

What do you think about the level of football today in Serbia?
“It’s not at a high level. Coaches often reduce the opportunities for young talents to show their creativity, to play in a more defensive way. We are aware that coaches in Serbia work for little money”.

What about Montenegro?
“There’s a similar situation: we have the same mentality of Serbians and the football we play is almost the same. The only important difference is that Serbia has a style more physical, and maybe a little better quality in their league”.

Do you think there are talents that can become important players?
“Sure. You know that Serbia has stars such as Nemanja Vidic, Ivanovic, Matic and for us in Montenegro it was never a problem. The upcoming stars, in my opinion, are certainly Mijat Gaćinović from Vojvodina as Zivkovic from Partizan. I think that Mijat can become a top player. But there are a lot of young players who are working a lot to show their skills. I think theyonly need a chance, an important chance, to show what they are able to do”.

Who will be the next important players form Serbia and Montenegro to arrive in important leagues, next summer?
“I think it will be one player from Fc Vojvodina, because the club produces great talents. What I think is wrong in the policy of the club is that they don’t give so much chances to young players to play in first team. For next summer, the name are Mijata Gacinovic and, from Montenegro, Igor Cukovic .

Is Italy still a promise land for Serbian and Montenegrin players?
“Italy has always been a country where the players from this area have left a large footprint: I think the things will remain as they’ve always been even in the future”.

Maduro: “I earned too much for Sevilla”

Hedwiges Maduro,  Dutch defender and midfielder born in 1985,  rescinded his contract with La Liga side Sevilla FC and joined PAOK Thessaloniki.
His decision to leave Spain has a clamorous motivation:
“President of the club didn’t want me to play because I earned too much money. It was a big problem for them”.
Did you stay well in Sevilla?
“Yes, it went well. Problems had nothing to do with football, as I said”.
Why Greece?
“I need to play and PAOK is a great chance to me: a big club that plays in Europa League too”.

Darko Zoric: “Mi piace il Milan. La Juve? Non ne so niente”

In questi giorni sul web sono rimbalzate voci di interessamento da parte di grandi squadre europee per il giovane talento montenegrino Darko Zoric.
Nato nel 1993, milita nel FK Čelik Nikšić come centrocampista. Si è parlato per lui di Inter, Juventus e Borussia Dortmund.

Ho il piacere di avere Darko ospite nella mia bottega.

Che tipo di giocatore sei?
“Gioco a centrocampo, mi piace molto servire assist, ma non disdegno il gol. Uso soprattutto il piede sinistro”.

Ci sono molte grandi squadre interessate a te, me lo puoi confermare?
“Sì è vero. Lo scorso anno c’erano parecchi club europei che chiedevano di me, ma quest’anno sono molti di più. Ma la finestra di calciomercato è chiusa quindi non posso parlare delle singole trattative”.

Inter e Juventus, cosa c’è di vero?
“L’Inter mi ha cercato lo scorso anno. Della Juve non so nulla”.

Ti piacerebbe giocare in Italia?
“E’ il mio più grande desiderio. Mi piace molto il Milan”.

Hai avuto contatti con altre squadre italiane?
“No”.

Come si spiega il boom di talenti dal Montenegro?
“Siamo una fucina di grandi giocatori: da Djorjevic a Jankovic, da Alic a Kosovic, fino ad arrivare a me. Molti già giocano nelle grandi squadre europee. Il Montenegro è una piccola nazione, ma ha prodotto campioni come Dejan Savicevic, che oggi è il nostro presidente federale, o Mirko Vucinic che rappresenta per me un modello da seguire”.
